For machine vision applications with small exposure areas, special lighting solutions are now provided by LATAB, the Swedish specialist for LED lighting.

The application range of dark field lighting is the detection of edges, defects and contours. The advantages of this lighting technique are showing when the distance between lighting and object is smallest possible. So standard sizes are not adequate for small objects. For these applications LATAB has developed asmall dark field ring light with an outer diameter of only 25 millimeters is particularly suitable for miniature cameras with M12 lenses.

Two new spotlights with a 7 millimeter diameter and a spotlight with a 16 millimeter diameter fitted with high performance LEDs  allow small exposure areas which can be lit very brightly, even when relatively far away from the object. The spotlights can also be designed as a multi-head light unit allowing several heads to be jointly operated by one controller. The new lights are currently available in the light colors red and white.
