LEDs are long-life components; however the effects of heat will decrease the lifetime. In order to avoid detrimental effects of heat, please follow the guidelines below:

• Whenever possible, use red LED-based lighting because of its very long lifetime.
• Choose:

   - strobe mode
   - steady state mode
   - 50% on/off
   - long flash

• Adjust the light intensity to the lowest level possible for your application
• Keep ambient temperature low
